Step into our First Class Pullman dining carriage and enjoy the very best in contemporary British cuisine. We serve popular, honest, traditional dishes, alongside seasonal specials and more adventurous fusion fare. Book your own cosy restaurant booth, eat in the bar or enjoy the light and spacious Observation Carriage that opens out into the hotel courtyard. In warmer weather diners can eat al fresco in the courtyard or undercover on ‘Platform 2’.
With the New Forest on our doorstep, we’re spoilt for superb local producers which allows us to keep food miles to a minimum. All our meat is grass-fed and pasture-raised, animals are selected directly from farms in Hampshire or Wessex, and then all the meat is hand-cut. Our beef is from Pedigree Dexter cattle raised on the Isle of Wight. Beef steaks are age matured for 28 days and another 3 days at the Railway Hotel.
We’re close to the coast too, so all our fresh fish and seafood is boat-to-table within twenty-four hours and sustainably line caught where possible.
As well as breakfast, lunch and dinner we serve a quintessentially English Afternoon Tea. Our ‘Dawlish Tea’ is a classic cream team, our ‘Cornwall Sleeper’ is a selection of scones and sandwiches and our ‘Flying Scotsman’ is a selection of scones, sandwiches and pastries. Served with tea, coffee or Prosecco.
The Railway Hotel welcomes all ages. Family bookings are most welcome and our children’s menu means we serve nutritious, appetizing and well-balanced portion sizes to all the family. Special consideration is taken so that all kinds of dietary desires are catered for including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free.
